Past Work
Jeff Dikio’s earlier figurative studies focus on the body under physical and emotional strain. Drawn from subjects such as boxers, swimmers, and toreros, these works explore moments of exertion, imbalance, and recovery — points where control and vulnerability coexist.
Rendered with loose, forceful mark-making, the figures emerge from darkness and motion rather than precise detail. Anatomy is fragmented, blurred, or pushed to its limits, emphasizing gesture, weight, and psychological presence over likeness. These studies reflect Dikio’s ongoing interest in capturing fleeting moments of tension and release, where the human figure becomes a vessel for endurance, risk, and quiet introspection.
